DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) registration is required for businesses sending commercial messages like SMS or voice calls. This ensures compliance with regulations and prevents unsolicited messages using blockchain technology.
DLT Registration Process
- Step 1: Register as an ENTITY: Register your business with an authorised DLT provider and receive a unique ENTITY ID.
- Step 2: Register a SENDER-ID / HEADER: Choose a unique identifier for your messages (alpha-numeric or numeric).
- Step 3: Template Registration: Register your message templates to comply with TRAI guidelines.
- Step 4: Link Information to Msg4: Integrate your ENTITY ID, SENDER-ID, and TEMPLATE IDs into your Msg4 account.
By following these steps, you ensure compliance with TRAI regulations and leverage DLT’s blockchain-based technology for secure bulk SMS communication.
Principal Entity
The Principal Entity is the company or organization sending SMS messages. It could be an individual, sole proprietor, partnership, or any private, public, or government entity.
Sender ID
- Alpha: Used for Transactional and Service messages.
- Numeric: Used for Promotional messages.
Each registered Header must have a corresponding template, which must be registered by the Principal Entity.
Associated Costs
A one-time DLT registration fee of Rs. 5,900 INR is required. Subsequent registrations on other platforms are free.
