The Send SMS feature allows easy communication with your audience. Before using it, you must register your DLT-registered PEID and sender ID, and add them to the msg4 portal for compliance.
Message Types
- Transactional Messages – Used for OTPs, alerts, reminders, confirmations, and security updates.
- Promotional Messages – Ideal for marketing, advertisements, and announcements.
You can send messages individually or in bulk using the selected route, sender ID, and template. Messages can also include links for additional information.
Message Composition Metrics
- Chars Used: Total characters in your message.
- Per Message: First message: 160 characters, additional messages: 153 characters each.
- Encoding: Uses 7-bit encoding.
- Messages: Total message count (exceeding 160 characters counts as multiple messages).
- Remaining: Characters left before the next message starts.
This feature ensures quick, efficient, and reliable SMS communication for all your needs.
Prerequisites
Before sending a single SMS, ensure the following:
- Route and Sender ID: You must have a DLT-registered PEID and sender ID, and add them to the Sender ID menu.
- Template: A template should be added in the Manage SMS Template menu. Alternatively, you can directly enter your DLT-registered template ID in the Template ID (DLT) * text box of the Send SMS form.
- Group (Optional): If sending to a group, ensure the group is created in the Manage Group page. You can add contacts to this group in the Manage Contact menu by single or bulk content upload.
Steps to Send a Single SMS
Follow these simple steps to send a single SMS:
- Select Route and Sender ID: Choose the route and sender ID in the Send SMS form that you’ve added previously in the Sender ID menu.
- Choose Template: Add your template under the Manage SMS Template menu and select the template. Alternatively, you can directly enter your DLT-registered template ID in the Template ID (DLT) * text box.
- Choose to Send to a Group (Optional): If you wish to send the SMS to a group, check the Send Group checkbox and select a group name that you added in the Manage Group page.
- Send to a Single Mobile Number: If sending to a single number, enter the mobile number in the Mobile Number text box.
- Enter Message Content: Type your message content in the Message text box. The message count and other metrics will be displayed below the text box:
- Messages: Number of messages to be sent.
- Per Message: Character limits per message (first message: 160 characters, subsequent ones: 153 characters each).
- Remaining: Remaining characters available.
- Chars Used: Total characters used in the message.
- Encoding: Type of encoding used (7-bit encoding).
- Click "Send": Once everything is filled out, click the Send button to send the SMS.
